The Cornerstone Café

Sadly, The Cornerstone Café has had to close. Unfortunately, we have not had enough customers to be able to keep it open any longer - the overheads are far outweighing the income and the café is not showing sufficient signs of drawing-in more customers to improve the situation. We have been drawing-down from our reserves to assist, but have reached the point whereby it would be inappropriate to continue any longer.
We are thinking about some different possibilities for the Café in the future, but we are not sure when it might be able to 're-open'. We are using the space for open meetings with refreshments.
We thank you for your support for the café - and ask you to pray for the staff, volunteers and customers in this time of change, and also to pray for wisdom and discernment as we seek identify a new approach to the use of the café space..

During the past year we are grateful to @lancsfoundation and @nationalemergenciestrust who provided a grant of £5000 from the #LancashireResponding COVID-19 Community Support Fund. We also received a grant of £1000 from the Emergency Response Fund which is administered locally by our partners Lancaster and District CVS. This money enabled us to buy the much needed PPE to make the café Covid-safe and has enabled us to offer free space, with kitchen service, to various groups that support vulnerable people: CanChat, Christians Against Poverty and a lockdown parent and baby group.
